Nutrition during Lactation and Weaning support
Lactation is a nutritionally demanding phase; there is an increase in the requirement of most of the nutrients. Studies have shown that dietary intake of mother affects the quality of milk produced by her. Amount of B vitamins, selenium, iodine and fatty acids present in mother’s milk indicates the quality of her milk. Mal nourished mothers has been shown to have lower levels of various nutrients, reflecting their poor dietary intake.
After giving birth to your child, you must be eager to look like the way you were before your pregnancy, but your body needs time to recover from labor and delivery. On top of that, you need a nutritionally sound diet to feed your child and to meet its nutrient requirements. You should not start dieting at any cost until your child is about 2 months old, otherwise it will delay your recovery and make you feel more tired.
