Nutrition for Sports and Fitness
Fitness is an integral component of a sport’s person life. Successful sports performance is a combination of favourable genetics, desire, proper training and a sensible approach to nutrition. The importance of nutrition as a contributing factor to success in training and competition has been recognized for decades. Diet of a sports person whether recreational or elite, is different from a regular diet; their nutrition requirements are more specified and regulated. A sports person diet must be focused on high carbohydrate energy foods, they also need adequate amount of protein to build up muscles, essential vitamins and minerals for peak performance and endurance and adequate hydration.
Proper diet is not only required during tournaments (diet before, during and after matches) but during trainings as well. This is because an optimal nutritional status of a player is built over time. Timing is also a very important factor while planning a diet of a sports person.
