Weight Management
Weight management includes weight loss, weight gain as well as maintaining a long term healthy weight.
Weight Loss
“Life Style Diseases” such as obesity, hypertension, type II diabetes, cardio vascular disease, depression, stroke, cancer etc. are on rise in India. The main factors contributing to these “Life Style Diseases” are identified as bad food habits, physical inactivity and disturbed biological clock. Obesity increases manifold the risk of these chronic and potentially lethal diseases. Experts warn that unless obesity rates are reduced, many will die up to 9 years earlier than they need to or have an old age blighted by poor health. So it’s generally accepted that if you want to live a long and healthy life, you need to maintain a healthy weight. Hence, a special emphasis has been given on our Weight Loss Strategy.
Nutrition Needs applies a sensible approach to weight loss, which emphasizes moderation not deprivation.
The program is divided into three phases – Weight Loss, Stabilization and Maintenance.
Weight Loss

Individualized diet charts are prepared keeping in mind all the parameters affecting health of a person and his / her food habits. The emphasis is on developing and establishing good eating and regular exercise habits and providing basic nutrition education to the client. It is ensured that weight loss is through loss of body fat and not muscles.
Stabilization
During the stabilization phase, you are supervised for about six weeks, where in you are trained to maintain your new goal weight.
Maintenance
For the long term maintenance of your weight, a life time support is provided to you. Once you are enrolled with Nutrition Needs, you become its life time member. You can avail facilities of the centre for getting done your Body Composition Analysis (BCA) and can use our library and self help tools facilities.
Weight Gain
Almost eclipsed by the attention focused on obesity is the need for some people to gain weight. The term underweight is applicable to those who are 15 – 20% or more below accepted weight standards. A low BMI (<18.5) is associated with greater mortality risk, especially with aging and in the elderly. Under nutrition may lead to under function of the pituitary, thyroid, gonads and adrenals. Other risk factors include loss of energy and susceptibility to injury and infection as well as distorted body image and other psychological problems.
Balanced Diet: Maintaining good health and a healthy weight
Good health is the state of complete physical, mental, social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity (WHO). To maintain good health, ingesting a diet containing all the essential nutrients in the right amount is very important. A balanced diet along with appropriate physical activity is required for maintaining a long term healthy weight. A balanced diet gives your body the optimum nutrition it needs to function properly. Good nutrition increases a person’s life span and helps him enjoy life fully.
